How I Write: A Typical Evening

I hope you enjoyed yesterday's interview. You'll get a glimpse at another author tomorrow with my next interview, but I thought I'd take a moment today to give you a glimpse into my world as a writer.

A typical evening of writing looks something like this for me:

I open up my laptop and turn it on. I head to the kitchen and get a snack/drink to help me keep focused. Once the laptop is on, I open Spotify for my story playlist and take a few moments to check my email, Facebook, and blogs. Then, I open up my writing group chatroom and set about on alternating between chatting and writing. Somewhere in there, Ella always comes to give her advice and bug me for attention. Occassionally, she even tries to write herself...

Anyways, I set a personal goal of 2000 words a day (the Nano goal is 1667 words a day), which means I should be at 6000 words tonight. I'm somewhere between 5000 and 6000 currently so I'm off to get another 1000 words or so written!
