Wine Slushies…Yes, Please!
Hi everyone! My name is Tara, and I blog about my adventures as a military spouse and mommy over at An Aiming High Wife. I am so excited to be here today to share my Red Wine Fruit Slushies!
Last week when a friend was visiting we decided to explore a few local wineries. At the one winery they had this amazing wine slushy. The slushies were so the perfect mix of wine, sweet and cool for a hot summer day. When we got home, I was on a mission, I pulled out a bottle of wine, the blender, ice, and fresh fruit. I decided that berries would be the perfect compliment to red wine! After a few ‘failed’ attempts I found that I had to eliminate the ice so that the slushy wouldn’t taste watered-down. In order to make the slushy…well slushy…I had to freeze my berries and use them instead of the ice.
I don’t have an exact measurement for the frozen berries, because I froze all the berries I had on hand, and they measured them out one cup at a time. So you will need at least 4 cups of any mix of berries you would like! I did a random mix of blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries, next time I plan on adding frozen cherries. The best part of slushies is you can experiment with your favorite fruits, what fruit would you mix with red wine? Leave a comment below and let me know…Or Tweet me @aiminghighwife!

To make the slushies you want to first add your red wine to the blender. I recommend using a red wine blend but you can really use whatever red wine is your favorite! If you didn’t have a chance to aerate your wine and give it time to breath ahead of time, then you can turn the blender on for 15-30 seconds. Just make sure to put the lid on first!

Next you want to add the frozen berries. Add one cup of berries at a time and blend well. Once all four cups of berries have been added to the blender let it run on high until the slushies reaches the perfect consistency.

Since I made the slushies in the middle of a very hot day, I wanted to add a little sweetness. In order to add just a touch of sweetness without adding raw sugar, I added a Tablespoon of Agave Syrup, and allowed the blender to run for a few more seconds. You can skip this step if you would like.

Ta-Da a perfectly refreshing adult slushy that you can enjoy anytime! I can’t wait to experiment with white wine…
