So, what do you say? Are you ready to try something new this Thanksgiving? Check out this list for some fun things to try!

Try a new food.

Thanksgiving is all about the food. It tends to be the main attraction at any event centered around the holiday. This is the perfect opportunity to sample a little bit of something new from the choices spread before you. It doesn’t have to be a lot – even a small taste could open you up to a new favorite!

Check out a local Turkey Trot.

Worried about the extra pounds that can come with Thanksgiving? Why not start it out with a walk or run? Last year, we participated in a local 5k race and I have to say it was a great way to start the holiday. By the time dinner rolled around, there was no room left for guilt over our food choices.

Start a new tradition.

It’s never too late to start a new tradition. Pinterest is full of cute ideas to involve the whole family in a tradition. Just remember to keep up with it next year so that it becomes a true tradition!

Invite someone new to dinner.

Use the holiday as an opportunity to spread kindness and invite someone to join you for dinner. You can keep it small and just invite someone who’s going to be alone for the holidays or you can make it a big affair and invite lots of people over for a Friendsgiving.

Find a volunteering opportunity.

This one goes with the previous item. Maybe there’s no one you can invite to dinner – that’s okay. You can still spread kindness by finding a local volunteering opportunity. Maybe it won’t be on the day of Thanksgiving – anytime of the month (or year) can be the perfect opportunity to seek out a volunteer opportunity!

Make a new recipe.

Are you in charge of the cooking for Thanksgiving? Why not have a little fun with the chore and try out a new recipe? I know I’ll be hitting up Pinterest for new ideas this year! (Just make sure you have some classic dishes as well in case the new one is a dud.)

Start a gratitude list.

In addition to being all about food, Thanksgiving is also about gratitude and showing thanks. Before or after dinner, sit down and create a list of everything that you’re grateful for. This can be done individually or as a group. In fact, Pinterest even has some ideas of how to make this a cute activity.

Craft something festive.

It’s time to get crafty! You can use this holiday as an opportunity to get crafty. While the guys are watching football, drag out your craft supplies and get started on some homemade gifts and decorations.

Get ready for Christmas.

For most, Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the Christmas season. We like to decorate the house over the weekend following Thanksgiving. We also pull out all of our Christmas stuff and get started with some of our holiday traditions.

Don’t forget to have fun!

Regardless of how you choose to spend the holiday, don’t forget to have fun this holiday season! Put on your favorite playlist, wear your favorite outfit, or do whatever else you need to in order to insure that you have a little fun!
