I have several women that I consider to be a part of my blogging tribe. They’re the women that keep me grounded and sane even when life seems to be falling apart. They’re also the women who can make me laugh and will listen to my crazy ideas. A tribe can be a great support system and that’s why I always share guest posting opportunities with them! Today, I’m excited to feature Cate of Random Crafty Georgia Girl for the Moments that Matter series.

There are moments in your life that define who you are. There’s so many little moments in my life that make me who I am today.

There is a person in my life that has always been there through moments of happiness and moments of defeat. Psychologists say that if a friendship last for seven years it will last a lifetime. I believe this 100%.

My best friend and I have been friends for seventeen years. She has seen me at my best and at my worst. There’s been times that we didn’t talk, but that didn’t mean that we weren’t friends anymore. Our lives just got in the way. That happens sometimes.

Our friendship started back in high school. It was the day after Christmas, her sixteenth birthday. Her family had just moved to the area because her father was the new pastor of my church. My youth group wanted to welcome her and since it was her birthday we decided to have a surprise party for her at our youth leader’s house. I don’t’ really remember the exact details of how this all came to be. All I remember was that we started talking and knew we were going to be best friends.

We have been through so much in the past seventeen years. There’s been break-ups, marriages, divorce, deaths, moving, disagreements, and so much more. Though everything that’s gone on in our lives we have always been there for each other. She’s my best friend.

Not only is she my best friend, she is my sister! We are both only children and having that bond with a sibling is something we never experienced until we met! Nothing will ever change the bond we have!

Seventeen years ago my best friend changed my life when she moved to Carbondale Illinois. This moment matters to me because there were things in my life that weren’t going as I wanted. That’s another story though. She came into our youth leader’s basement that night not knowing that God had sent her to me! I thank Him every day for that night! He knew that I needed someone like her in my life!
