Dear Baby Fox,
I recently saw a post where a mom wrote a letter to her son and thought “I should do that for Mother’s Day!” It turns out thinking about a letter is easier than writing it.
Why?
It’s because of you. You have this adorably cute way of keeping me from writing the many blog posts that come to mind. All it takes is a smile or a cry and I’m all yours. It means that my blog is looking a little bare lately, but that’s okay because my heart is beyond full.
Today is our first Mother’s Day though and that feels like something that should be celebrated. I took my first relaxing bath in a year while you slept last night. That was my way of treating myself. Today is all about you and me though. I want to spend the day with the little one that has made me a mom.
Our day may have started with a filled diaper and a few cries, but I’m not going to let that ruin it. I’m going to cherish the snuggles I sneak out of you and laugh with you when you discover something that makes you happy. In essence, I’m going to spend this day soaking up all the happy moments that come with being your mom.
So, today for our first Mother’s Day, I want to say that I love watching you grow and being your mother. You’ve seen me at my best (smiling with you) and at my worst (those early sleep deprived nights) and yet you still seem to enjoy having me around. I can only hope that this continues as you grow.
I love you and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.
Love,
Your Mommy
