Sometimes your mind, body, and soul could use a little self care or perk me up but you don’t have the time to devote to it. That’s where this list comes in.
Below, you’ll find ten different ways that you can show yourself a little love when you only have ten minutes to spare. These are meant to help you rejuvenate a little so that you can be more present in your life. These are especially great for busy moms.
1. Take a quick non-shower.
This one may seem a bit odd for two reasons. The first reason is a proper shower (including prep time) often takes more than ten minutes. The second reason is because I added in “non.” What is a non-shower? A non-shower is when you let the water fall but you don’t worry about getting clean. Instead, you let the healing powers of hot water work their magic.
2. Snuggle with your pet, kid, or by yourself.
Grab your favorite blanket and wrap yourself up in it. This is especially nice in the winter when you’re cold. A little comfort and warmth can do wonders for you.
3. Do your make-up or hair.
Pick the item that makes you most happy and give it a little extra love. I’m not a big make up girl but I do enjoy when my hair is straight. A quick perk me up can be just a little extra time spent on your appearance.
4. Get dressed in something cute.
This one goes along with number three. Often times, we find ourselves dressing in the same easy and comfortable thing, especially if fashion isn’t “our thing.” Try spending a few extra minutes on your outfit and see how you feel.
5. Write it down.
Grab a sheet of paper and a pen and write it all down. Getting things out of your head and onto paper can be very relaxing. This could be in a journal, letter, to do list, or other format. Put pen to paper and free your mind.
6. Read a chapter or two.
Pick up a book and use your ten minutes to read. I personally like to download Kindle books and read them in the app on my phone. I love hard copy books but they take up a lot of space when you move often.
7. Clean something.
Keep in mind that everyone enjoys different things. If a clean and organized space is important to you, then you might want to use your ten minutes to tackle a quick cleaning project.
8. Grab a snack that will make your body happy.
Sometimes we forget to feed ourselves and that leads to lower blood sugar and feelings of blah. Take a few minutes to prioritize and fuel your body with a favorite healthy snack
9. Move your body.
For some of us, our days contain a lot of sitting. This can leave us feeling drained as well. Get up and move your body. It can be as simple as walking around the room, dancing to a favorite song, or searching for a quick youtube workout.
10. Quiet your mind.
Life is busy. Sometimes it’s too busy and we get lost in all of the noise. Take a few minutes to sit in a quiet space and meditate or connect with yourself. If meditation isn’t your thing, then maybe play some quiet music and just be still for a few. Allow yourself to rest.
Well, there you go – ten different ways you can show yourself a little love when time is limited. Remember – everyone is different. Pick the ones that match your personality and lifestyle and incorporate them when you can.
Self care should be simple and stress free. If it’s adding stress to your life, then you haven’t found the right fit. Which one of these ideas is your favorite?
I will definitely be using some of these!
Such great tips! It’s so important to keep this in mind ALL the time.
I love that your self-care tips don’t cost money. I think a lot of moms feel like they can’t take care of themselves because blogs advise things like spa days. I’m gonna self-care today by taking a non-shower. Thanks!
Yes! I hate when everything on a list costs money. That just adds to the stress sometimes! I hope you enjoyed your non-shower. 🙂
