“One doesn’t recognize the really important moments in one’s life until it’s too late.”
– Agatha Christie

There are so many things in my life right now that relate to this quote. Lately, I feel as though I’ve been learning the hard way that people take things for granted. I’m not excluding myself from that “people.” All too often, we get comfortable in life and forget that changes can be waiting just around the corner. We forget to hug the people closest to us and to make sure everyone knows we care for them. Sometimes, we forget that life is short and we need to make the most of it.

I have come into this summer learning that life is full of choices – some that you make yourself and some that others make for you. There’s only one thing you can really do with those choices and that’s make the most of them. If it’s something you can change, then you can set out to change it. Otherwise, you simply have to take it and make the most out of it.

This topic is a bit heavier than I usually pick for my blog entries but I felt it should be shared. I often find the best advice or perspectives when I read quotes. The one at the top of this post certainly sheds some perspective on life. Take time to appreciate the little things – to recognize the important stuff now rather than later.
