If you’ve been following the blog recently, you’ll have noticed that I’ve taken a liking to home workouts lately – especially the ones from Beachbody. I’ve tried other home workouts in the past and wasn’t successful with them. This time has been different though and I thought it was time I shared some of my tips for making the most of your home workout.

I value your precious moments, so I’m going to keep these short, simple, and to the point. You can always get in touch with me via Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook if you’d like more information on any one tip!

Locate a large space in your home.
Having space is super important when you’re doing a home workout. Chances are you, you’ll be moving around a lot and will need space to go back and forth. You’ll also want to check for any hazards that might be in your way – toys, tables, etc. I typically work out in my living room with the coffee table pushed to the side. This apartment isn’t quite big enough for it, but I make it work.

Schedule your gym time.
Treat your gym time as a commitment. The great part about working out at home means you can do it anytime. This can also be a large problem with home workouts. It’s important to remember that working out is a commitment to yourself. Schedule it into your calendar and stick with it. (Remember, your home gym is flexible and can be rescheduled to another time in the day if something arises! Don’t skip a day simply because you missed your “appointment.”)

Wear what makes you feel good.
Just because you’re working out at home and no one can see you, that doesn’t mean you should give up on wearing cute clothes. In fact, it means you can wear something that you might not feel comfortable wearing in public! (Maybe it’s that pair of shorts that’s just a little too short or the crop top you loved but can’t wear in public.) Of course, on laundry day, it might be best to just wear your cute pajamas!

Find a workout you love.
Not enjoying the workout you’re currently doing? Then quit (and find another)! The great part of working out at home is how many options are available. In fact, that’s why I love Beachbody on Demand so much. It offers a huge variety of workouts that can be done. Don’t let yourself get stuck in an unhappy rut when you’re working out at home. Invest some time or money into finding a new workout that you love. (And it’s totally fine to fall in and out of love with workouts frequently!)

Find an accountability group or partner.
I cannot stress this one enough! The biggest thing you lose by not working out in a gym (especially in a class) is someone or something to keep you accountable. I love that Beachbody offers challenge groups for those participating in their workouts – it has helped me SO much! I recommend a group over a partner simply because you’ll have more people holding you accountable. If you don’t have access to a group, you can join my free health group and get started there. It’s a secret group to help keep things confidential and safe. It’s a great group of ladies though!

I have a question and answer session coming up on Monday where I’ll be sharing more tips, workouts, and information on how to join my secret health group. I hope you’ll take 30 minutes (yes, just 30) to stop by and find out more ways to help yourself towards a healthier, happier lifestyle! Click the banner below to join the live event on Facebook! (Can’t make it Monday? Click join anyways so that you can come back and read it after the event!) Make sure you invite your friends – it’ll help you towards achieving my last tip!
