One of the things I hear bloggers say a lot is that they don’t know what to write about, so they don’t get a post up. I thought I would try to help by giving you a list of ideas for February. This list will include holidays in addition to ideas that could work in February.
As you read through these dates and ideas, remember that they are just general ideas! Make them a little more personal so that they work for your blog and your audience. If you get an idea for a post from my list, I’d love to see a link to the outcome in the comments!
February is Black History Month and also Children’s Dental Health Month.
The following dates of note are in February:
February 2 – Groundhog Day
Think furry creatures, shadows, and the change from winter to spring. It’s also a great time to talk about predictions or the seasons. Depending on the groundhog’s prediction, a winter or spring fashion post could be fun as well.
February 7 – Superbowl Sunday
Football and festivities – I’m not going to lie, I’m not a huge fan of football and I’ve never watched the Superbowl. I do enjoy seeing which commercial come out (Budweiser had a tear jerker last year!) and I’m always up for a fun themed party. There’s a lot that you can do with this topic – especially depending on your connection to football and the Superbowl.
February 8 – Chinese New Year
It’s the year of the monkey! You could take this holiday topic in a variety of directions. I just love that it’s the year of the monkey! (I’m a tiger according to the Chinese horoscope. What are you?)
February 9 – Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday
This one almost crosses over into religion and almost didn’t get included for that reason (I don’t talk about religion or politics on my blog). There are a lot of festivities that take place that are less religious though and that’s why it was included on the list. Round up your beads and make a fun New Orleans style post on your blog! Perhaps a “what to wear” post even? (P.S. Ash Wednesday and Lent follow Fat Tuesday if those are things that pertain to your blog and your life!)
February 14 – Valentine’s Day
I’m sure this is the first holiday you think of when you think of February. There’s so much you can do with this topic from focusing on love, being single, or anything having to do with hearts and roses. Take a moment and think outside the box on this topic. You never know what you might come up with! For example, I was inspired to write a Chick Flicks to Curl Up With post last year after thinking about Valentine’s Day and how I could include it on my blog.
February 15 – President’s Day
Honestly, I’m not sure what direction to take with this holiday. I included it on the list though because it’s an important one that often results in a three day weekend for a lot of people.
February 17 – Random Acts of Kindness Day
I love random acts of kindness! They don’t have to be big – sometimes even just a small note can bring a smile to someone’s face. This is a great topic for a blog post to help inspire change in others. Think back to what you’ve done for others or what others have done for you. There may be a great blog post hidden somewhere in there!
February 29 – Leap Year!
It’s a leap year! I’m so excited about that! I’m planning a mini celebration in honor of the extra day, but more on that later! Leap Year is a fun time to bring in Irish connections (think of the movie!), frogs (because they leap), or even a post on what you’d do with an extra day. Remember – think outside of the box!
There’s plenty of other random holidays that may inspire you as well. I’ll be back again at the end of February with a list for March!
Don’t forget – if this post inspires one of your posts, please leave a link to it in the comments! I’d love to read it and share it with my readers. 🙂
Find inspiration for every month of the year!
