It’s the first Monday of June, which means it’s time to kick off the new series “Social Moments.” I’m really excited about this series and even more excited to be starting the series with one of my blogging besties. It’s her birthday, so we’ll be starting with a birthday edition!

I sent Raewyn of Be a Warrior Queen several questions to answer based around the birthday theme. She sent her answers back and I’m sharing them below! Each week is a different theme and I want to invite you to turn this into a true social series by answering the same questions in the comments below. I’m looking forward to learning many new things about those of you that stop by to read my blog! There’s an easy format at the end of the post for you to copy and paste into the comments. If you’re interested in being featured in a future post, please let me know!

1. How old are you? 27 today!!

2. What was your favorite childhood birthday party? I loved all of our birthday parties because they were always giant! They were either at the park or at one of our pools. I remember one year we did mine and my brother’s birthday together, even though I am June and he is August. I think it was my 10th or 11th birthday and we had a pool party. It was a super blast, like always. That year I had asked for a shih tzu cake because I was obsessed with them and wanted one. MY MOM TOTALLY MADE IT. She is a crazy incredible cake maker, but this one was my favorite.

3. What has been your favorite adult birthday memory? I think that my 21st was my most memorable, but it was also my longest lasting. My birthday was on a Sunday and my aunt got married the night before on the Queen Mary, a ship and hotel here. At midnight we did shots and then my family took me to the ship’s bar for drinks. My grandma was buying me drinks! The next day, my friends picked me up from the boat and we spent the day at Disneyland. I was in my dress from the wedding and I had brushed my teeth at a gas station because I hadn’t planned on staying the night at the hotel. Then, we went to Bdubs where I worked and I did a ton of shots (for the first time ever) and we went to our bowling league. I got really ridiculous there, sick, and ended up falling asleep on the ground of the mall for a few minutes. My friends got me home and the next morning I was supposed to leave for 3 days in Las Vegas. Of course, when I woke up hungover and sick, I refused to go to Vegas. My friend literally had to pack my suitcase and stuff me in the car. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas and we walked the strip that first night. My dad was the one who took us to Vegas, and it was just 2 of my best friends, my god brother and my dad. Whenever someone went to Vegas for their 21st they were given a “birthday task” and mine was to try to give away those GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS! cards. Men basically stand on the streets slapping these cards of naked girls yelling GIRLS! I’m not sure why, but it was hilarious. We also spent the majority of the time gambling, winning money, and relaxing in the lazy river and pool. It wasn’t my favorite Vegas trip, but it was definitely my favorite birthday.

4. Do you have a birthday tradition? I don’t!

5. What is your favorite thing about your birthday? I’m really not sure. I’ve always loved my birthday ad the whole month of June. I also love that mine and Iman’s birthdays are so close together. Maybe I love that it’s an excuse to party and have a theme and everything!

6. What makes a birthday gift special to you? From the heart – my favorite gifts are handmade or picked out when someone randomly thought of me. I’m not big on gifts because I’d rather spend the time with someone.

7. Is age just a number in your eyes? Yes! I’m like my grandma, forever 21 😉

8. We all make predictions as kids about our futures. How does your prediction compare to the reality? This is super weird. Back in 2011 right before Iman and I were a possibility of a couple, I found an assignment from middle school that had my life plan on it. I posted a picture on FB saying “Well, this is never coming true!” Except, almost everything has so far and it’s only off by a year. I wanted to be married at 23 – I got married at 24. I wanted to have my first kid at 25. I had my first kid at 26. I wanted to be a teacher in 2012. I was a teacher in 2013. I did want to win a Nobel Peace Prize for changing the world. That could come.

9. What question(s) would you like see asked in a future social moments?

I love this! I would love to know about other people’s dreams! So, whether it’s their dream house or career or place to live, etc.

10. Where can we find you on the internet?
